The Syncfusion Essential Barcode control is used to create various types of barcodes. Using this control, you can print barcode on a printer using C# and VB.NET. Steps to print barcode on a printer programmatically: Create a new C# Windows Forms application project. This print driver supports all ASCII characters and most characters of other character sets, so you will be able to send text files like ZPL, TXT, or PRN containing the code. There will be no modification or file conversion to any other format in the middle of the printing process.
A PRN file is a type of file that can be read by printers. It’s basically a generic output file that printers can understand. Sometimes you will end up with one of these files and need to print it. You used to be able to print these files to your local printer by using the command COPY /B C: FILENAME.PRN LPT1. These days, printers are not attached to LPT1 anymore. The only way to specify which to use is the name, so be sure to have a name of the printer before sending a file to print. In our case, we have available a real Brother Printer, so we'll use it in this example. To print the PDF from a file, you only need to use the PrintRawFile method from an instance of RawPrint. In Print to file with Java you see, that it is just setting the destination of the print job. There is the small problem, that what would have been sent to the printer is captured. So the same printer / printer driver has to be selected. Also the printer dialog might already propose in the UI 'Print to file.'
Working with PDFs in the way you do with other programming languages, ain't so easy with C#. Pitifully, most of the libraries are commercial and you will need to pay for a license. Other libraries like Spire PDF offers a free version of the library, however it only supports up to 10 pages per PDF and then you will see a watermark message that it's only for test purposes.
How To Print .prn File Using C 238
In case you are willing to print a PDF from your Winforms application without using a paid API, we'll show you 2 workarounds that will help you to print a PDF file easily.
A. Using Adobe Acrobat
The first way requires that you user has Adobe Acrobat installed. Usually every computer has a program to read PDF files namely Acrobat Reader, so be sure to check that you user has this PDF reader installed.
This method is recommended as it allows the user to choose which pages to print, which printer to use and other settings with the native print dialog:
This code runs the print command in a hidden command line and displays the Print Dialog of the system:
In some Windows versions, the Acrobat Reader may start for a second but it will be automatically closed after you click ok and the file will be printed.
B. Using the RawPrint package
If you don't want to use Acrobat Reader, you may want to use a custom package that sends a file directly to the printer. We are talking about the RawPrint package. RawPrint is a ibrary to send files directly to a Windows printer bypassing the printer driver, it can send PostScript, PCL or other print file types directly to a printer.
To install this library on your project, you can use the NuGet package manager of Visual Studio. Go to the solution explorer of the project in Visual Studio and do right click on your project, from the list select the Manage NuGet Packages option:
Once the Manager shows up, search for the RawPrint library, select (probably) the first option by Tony Edgecombe and click on install:
After the installation you will be able to use the RawPrint class in your project. For more information about this library, please visit the official repository at Github here.
1. List Printer Names
It's recommendable to list all the available printers in some combo box, so the user only needs to select the desired Printer and then print it. You can list all the available printers using the InstalledPrinters property in the PrinterSettings type:
To use the RawPrint methods, you will need to specify which printer to use. The only way to specify which to use is the name, so be sure to have a name of the printer before sending a file to print. In our case, we have available a real Brother Printer, so we'll use it in this example.
2. Printing PDF
To print the PDF from a file, you only need to use the PrintRawFile method from an instance of RawPrint. This method expects as first argument, the name of the Printer that you want to use to print the file, as second argument the absolute path to the PDF file (including the filename) that you want to print and as last argument the name of the same file. This last argument is used only to display it as name in the queue:
If you execute the previous code and the file exists, the printer should now doing its Job.
Happy coding !

Answer: According to your needs, you choose the right software: PCL Converter which can be used to convert PCL, PXL PRN and other printing file formats files to PDF fast and accurately. And for this software, there is also developer version and SDK version, which allows you to call it together with the C#. In the following part, I will give some examples.
Step 1. Download PCL Converter SDK Version
- For uploading and downloading easily, we have compressed it to zip file. Once downloading finishes, please extract it to some folder and check the elements in it.
- When you open it, there are many elements. But it is not hard to find the folder of example_C#_1 and example_C#_2. Open them then you can check the code and example in it.
Step 2. Run the conversion from C#
- The following is the sample of C# from the extracted folder, please have a check.
#include <windows.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <stdio.h>
__declspec(dllexport)
int WINAPI VeryPDFPCLConverter(const char *lpCmd);
void main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
if(argc < 3)
return;
char szCmd[2048] = {0};
for (int i = 1; i < argc; i++)
{
strcat(szCmd, '')
strcat(szCmd, argv[i]);
strcat(szCmd, ' ');
}
printf('%sn', szCmd);
VeryPDFPCLConverter(szCmd);

}
If you need to know more, please check them in the download package. And there are more examples for VB and others.
For checking the result more easily, here I will try to convert PRN to PDF by GUI version. This software either can be use as command line software and GUI version software. The following snapshot is from the output PDF file converted from PRN.
PCL Converter SDK was professionally designed to assist developers, the software programmers, to quickly add a PCL, PRN conversion utility to your own applications. And under the SDK version, you can integrate our product with your application and distribute it with your own application royalty free. This version is good for company users as it allows software companies to integrate it into their own applications and redistribute it.During the converting of PRN to PDF, please contact us as soon as possible.
